History of the Vasai fort could be traced back to 13th Century. This massive sea fort has ten bastions and two medieval gateways. The fort witnessed the victory of Marathas under the leadership of Chimajiappa, from 1737 to 1739, against the Portuguese after three years of the fierce campaign. The Recent restoration by ASI has made it easy to observe these monuments. Spread over 100 acres these ruins are home to wildlife such as jackals, reptiles, and birds.
