Trekगुरु has arranged a tour to Konkan , Scuba Diving, Water sports and visit to beaches and Temples of Konkan on 19th Feb 2016 to 21st Feb 2016. (Leaving on 18th Feb Thursday Night)
Sindhudurg is a fort which occupies an islet in the Arabian Sea, just off the coast of Maharashtra in western India. The fortress lies on the shore of Malvan town of Sindhudurg District in the Konkan region of Maharashtra.
Scuba Diving :
Scuba diving is nothing but swimming underwater while using self-contained breathing equipment. By carrying a source of compressed air, the scuba diver is able to stay underwater longer than with the simple breath-holding techniques and is not hindered by air-lines to a remote air source. The scuba diver typically swims underwater by using fins attached to the feet.
You will get a perfect opportunity to try Scuba diving or snorkelling in Malvan. The waters are warm, clear & full of varied marine-life guaranteeing some of the best scuba diving and snorkelling holidays anywhere in Indian subcontinent. Southern region of Sindhudurg fort is the primary location of snorkeling site in Maharashtra. This makes paradise a potential diving destination of India.
Tarkarli is a narrow stretch of beach with pristine waters, located at the convergence of the Karli River and the Arabian Sea. It is 546 KMs away from Mumbai, 6 kms. south of Malvan, on the west coast of India. This place has gained prominence because of its transparently clear seas, where on a fairly sunny day; one can see the sea- bed up to a depth of 20 feet. This beach can be rightly called as ‘Queen Beach’ of Sindhudurg.
Achara boasts the historical temple of Lord Shiva; popularly known as ‘inamdar Shri Dev Rameshwar’ Architecture of the temple is grand and spectacular.
Kunkeshwar is blessed with 700 meter long beautiful seashore. This temple is holy place in Konkan, so this place is also known as Konkan Kashi.
To gain an insight into how the Maratha rulers became such a huge and powerful force, a visit to some of the forts built or conquered under the reign of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's is a must. Of such forts, Vijaydurg, the oldest fort on the Sindhudurg coast, is one of the most interesting because it was virtually impregnable. Its geographical advantages include the 40 kilometer long Waghotan creek. While large vessels could not enter the shallow water of this creek, the Maratha warships could be anchored here and yet remain invisible from the sea.
