Tattva's Sangla Valley Tour (Himachal) 4th Nov to 10 Nov 2016

Day 01: Chandigarh to Narkanda (185 kms; 6 hrs drive)
Pickup from Chandigarh airport or railway station and drive towards Narkanda, this beautiful town situated at an altitude of 2708 meters on the Hindustan Tibet road which offers spectacular views of snow ranges. Have lunch on the way. On arrival check in at hotel. Evening at leisure. Dinner & Overnight stay at hotel in Narkanda.

Day 02: Narkanda to Sangla. (190 kms; 6.5 hrs drive)
After early breakfast we drive towards Sangla Valley which is about 120 odd KMs before the Indo-Tibet border, lies one of the most beautiful and romantic valleys in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. Sangla Valley or otherwise also known as Baspa Valley which houses a major village by the name Sangla. It is surrounded by thick forest slopes and offers lovely views of the high mountains surrounding it. Arrive at Kinner Camps, Sangla. Relax with a welcome drink and lunch. Later, go for a small walk to explore the camp surroundings. Evening campfire, followed by dinner. Overnight at Kinner Camps.

Day 03: Sangla - Excursion to Chitkul, Nagasti & Kamroo (40 kms; 3 hrs drive) 
Early morning, we can go for a walk in the valley. Visit apple orchards, and return to the camp for breakfast. After breakfast, depart by 9.30 and drive to Chitkul Village, which is about 23 KMs away from Sangla Valley at an altitude of 3450 Mtrs and on the banks of Baspa river, the last Indian village on the Indo-Tibet border. The magical beauty which this village offers is unmatched and incomparable. Later, walk to Nagasti, the last civilian point (2.5km). Come back to camp for lunch. Post lunch, we visit Kamru village which is about 2-3 KMs away from Sangla Valley & there is a famous 1000 year old Kamru Fort considered to be one of the oldest forts in Himachal Pradesh. We then visit Kamakhya devi temple, the deity of which has been originally brought from Assam. Dinner & Overnight stay at the camp.
Note : Chitkul remains closed in winters and is extremely famous for its potatoes in the whole world which are extremely costly as well.

Day 04: Sangla - Batseri Village walk – Glacier walk – Rakcham.
Early morning wake-up, followed by breakfast @ 08am. Get ready for the glacier walk. Leave camp by 10 am. On the way visit Batseri village & Lord Badrinarayan temple. The walk is about 12 KMs through dense Cedar forests & is also quite famous among people who love being midst nature and actually feel it. Proceed to experience a walk on the glacier. Drive down to Rakchham, a quaint nomadic village, where you can experience the ‘pahari’ lifestyle of the people. We carry packed lunch and have it on the banks of the Baspa river, which is a 5 min walk from the camp. Post lunch, we proceed for a leisurely walk to Hurba which is famous for spring water. After tea, leisure and free time to explore around. Dinner and overnight at Kinner camps.

Day 05: Sangla - Kalpa. (50kms, 2hrs.)
After breakfast, drive to Kalpa (50kms). Explore Kalpa and Rogi villages. Kalpa is one of the oldest villages, approximately 500 years old, and there are documents to prove the same. The whole village has a stunning view of the Kinner Kailash and Jorkandan peaks. Kinner Kailash is said to be the winter home of the great Lord Shiva. By its side, there is a 79 foot single rock resembling the Shivlinga that changes colour as the day passes. Kalpa is famous for its apples & chilgoza plantations, & the Narayan Nagini Temple Complex, which has Shrines of Hindu and Buddhist deities. Dinner and overnight at Kalpa.

Day 06: Kalpa – Shimla (237 kms; 8 hrs drive)
Post breakfast, we drive to Shimla. Lunch enroute. On arrival check in at hotel. Evening at leisure. Dinner & Overnight at the hotel in shimla.

Day 08: Shimla – Chandigarh (120 kms; 4 hrs drive)
After breakfast, Check-out from hotel. Drive to Chandigarh and Drop at Railway station/Airport to catch onwards train/flight.

Kinnaur Valley is located in the Northeast corner of Himachal Pradesh about 235 KMs from state capital, Shimla.
Altitude - Kinnaur Valley has a mountainous area, ranging in altitude from 2,320 Mtrs to 6,816 Mtrs (7,610 ft to 22,362 ft) where Kalpa is located at an altitude of 2,960 Mtrs (9,710 ft) and Sangla Valley is located at an altitude of 2,696 Mtrs (8,900 ft). Chitkul is the highest in the lot at an altitude of about 3,450 Mtrs (11,320 ft).
