TAT – one day trek to sagargad on 4th July 2015.
“The Adventure Trekkers” arranged a 1 day trek to Sagargad near Alibaug on Saturday 4 july 2013
Brief Introduction about Sagargad: -
Height: 452 metre / 1357 feet
Grade: Easy to medium
Time: Maximum 2 hrs from Khandale, Base Village
Location: Alibaug, Raigad District
This fort is said to exist since the Satvahan dynasty. In the books it is mentioned in the Treaty of Purander (1655 AD) where Shivaji gave 33 forts to the Moghuls. It is also said that Sagargard Fort was later given to Angre, the naval chief of the Marathas in return for loyalty against Shahu Chhattrapati of Satara. In the mid-19th century the British took the fort and built retreat homes on it. Also located on this fort a Temple of Siddheshwar, a river flowing by, and most of all a cliff just behind the temple where the river becomes a waterfall; water cistrens(Pandavkund), Vanartok Pinnacle. This hill fort commands a steering view of the entire Alibaug region and is still not a seafort,
Journey Details: -
Meeting Point 07:00 am @ panvel railway station
Breakfast & start journey .
07:30 am : Move by private vehicle from panvel.
08:30 am : Reach Khandale (near Alibaug)
09:45 am : Trek start
11:00 am: Sagargad Machi / Siddheshwar Temple.
11:30 am: Trek towards Sagargad
12:30 pm: @ Top of fort.
Two hours time for Exploration, Rest & Lunch …
14:45 pm: Descend
17:00 pm: Reach Base village khandale
17:30 pm: Depart to Mumbai.
We will be in Mumbai around 21:30 pm (subjective)
Fees for Trek is Rs. 800 / – per head
