Description

Kothaligad - First trek of the season
The fort had summoned for the opening trek of the season...we came, we climbed and we are back...thanx to all the members who accompanied...the following writ-up is just to relive this memory for all the members and a share of the fun for the those who missed...
Finally, the day arrived, the first trek of the season after two months of lay off...It's like we were waiting to breakout in the wild after the harsh summer had pounded one and all with fireballs...
By the time everyone had assembled in the train, everyone was in the mood for masti...old friends were meeting each other, people were getting new acquaintances and then the rapid fire antakshari...that was some antakshari...very few songs reached beyond the first line...full credit to the trek buddies...
By the time the train had reached Karjat...not many songs were left to be exposed and very few eyelids had seen the darkness of the closed eyes...
Finally at Karjat station...everyone was introduced and after a brief info the tumtums were summoned to escort the gang to Ambivli...the respite of the tumtums means some eyelids finally got some sleep...by the time Ambivli arrived few eyelids had already gone into sleep mode...
After a base village at Ambivli...everyone started for the 2hr hike to Pethwadi...the base village...after a brief start one sould had to abandon the trek due to health problem (u missed an experience buddy)...but rest of the people continued with the hike...
The first morning rays brought with it the mesmerising view of Padargad and Bhimashankar...one could even notice Siddhagad on the horizon...we continued to the base village where everyone was craving for breakfast...the everyday boring pohe was like a delicacy for the hunger-struck stomachs...
After the breakfast and tea...the trek to fort took another hour...the cave at the top was good...but the A/c wala staricase took everyone by surprise...that was some feeling...the top felt like an achievement of sorts...everyone was busy in search of new profile pictures...some wanted selfies while some were busy with modelling while for some the natural beauty was the perfect photo...a mention for a member who made the Shivaji Maharaj garjana...just charged up the ambience...
The descend was pretty fast...Pethwadi came by 10:30 am...on the some had the ecstasy of local mangoes while most were busy with Karvand (small black berrys)...After resting for about 15mins and water everyone started for the hike back to Ambivli...
The hike back although not tough grade wise but it was really demanding as the humidity and the heat level were through the roof...the Suryadev was locked in a heavy weight battle...it was raining one fire-ball after another...but somehow we reached Ambivli...we wonder this place and the heavy weight bout would be the perfect scenario for talcum powder ads...Cinthol, Nicil...are u listening...
Anyways the lunch was almost ready when we reached Ambivli...although it was normal vegetarian food, the taste of pithle (besan) and vatana amti would have given stiff competition to any 5-star hotel menu...everyone was satisfied...
The tumtums arrived in a matter of an hour...the ride back was sleepy...dont even remember the time precisely...back at the Karjat station everyone let go the first train for the sake of going together...i guess new BONDS had been formed...the return journey was filled with another round of Rapid fire antakshari...people in train were wondering with stark expressions, are these people insane...but hey these insane people were having a experience of a life time...Weren't we...???
