Hello Nature Lovers and Fort Lovers,

Initiative 2012 –

TryTheThrill along with support from Smriti Pratishthan has taken an initiative of conserving and cleaning up the fort of Peb, also known as Vikatgad near Matheran. The initiative will include garbage cleaning, dustbin installations, arrow marking of the route, do not litter sign board installation, Fort’s map and fort’s history board installation, water tanks cleaning and re-conservation of fort ruins. We will be also having a expert naturalist along for guidance and information. One session of star gazing on saturday night will be also conducted with professional telescope.

We invite you all to be a part of this initiative. Details of the event are as follows –

9th March 2012 –

Meeting point CST at sharp 10.20 PM. We will be going to Neral in Karjat local. People from Central line can directly board the train at respective stations.

Mumbai CST – 10.40 PM
Dadar – 10.58 PM
Ghatkopar – 11.15 PM
Thane – 11.37 PM
Kalyan – 12.10 AM
Neral – 12.49 AM

We will be moving in taxis to mid way of Matheran and start trek for Peb fort. This will be a night trek of 1.30 hours.

10th March 2012 –

06.30 AM – Wake up and Breakfast
07.30 AM – Initiative will be started with prayers.
08.00 AM – Team split up and start cleaning activities
12.30 PM – Lunch and rest
03.00 PM – Continue with cleaning activities until dark followed by a tea break
08.00 PM – Dinner and rest
09.00 PM - Star gazing session with Professional telescope guided by expert naturalist

11th March 2012 –

06.30 AM – Wake up and breakfast
08.00 AM – Team split up and start cleaning activities
12.30 PM – Lunch and rest
03.00 PM – Wind up the remaining work and move towards Matheran for descend.
07.00 PM – Trek ends at Neral station with snacks

We will be reaching back Mumbai by 9 PM.

Initiative will be executed with different teams with respective duties. For instance, a group of member will be doing marking up of arrows and another group of members will be cleaning up the tanks, and so on. These details will be announced on 9th March itself.

Maximum number of volunteers – 20 .

Initiative and Trek Contribution cost – Rs.  500.00 Per head.

Cost includes – Taxi fare from and to Neral station, breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea, snacks, conservation costs, expert naturalist and telescope costs,  and cleaning costs.

Things you have to carry –

Sleeping material, ready to eat snacks items, water 2 liter at least, torch, pair of clothes, good shoes, big plastic bags, a haversack to carry all your stuff, spoon, plate, glass, bowl, old newspapers and personal medicines if any.

Please make sure you have some empty space in your haversack for weight distribution as we have to port all the conservation material by ourselves.
