Bhandardara Lake side Camping 12-13th March. 2016.
Looking to escape the city life of Mumbai? Need a break from the traffic and crowded streets of the commercial capital of India? Then Bhandardara is the place to head off to for a weekend break or even a mid-week outing. Camping under the open skies at Bhandardara is something that everyone must try at least once in their lifetime
Bhandardara is a beautiful yet less known hill station near Mumbai in the Sahyadri hill range. Bhandardara is located at an altitude of about 2471 feet above sea-level. We are going to organize one night Camping in the open under the twinkling sky at Bhandradara. The literal meaning of Bhandardara is valley of treasures. Here the elements of nature are in perfect harmony - from the highest mountain peak in Maharashtra, to one of the largest lakes and oldest dams in the country Star gazing at Bhandardara is simply out of this world, it is very unlikely that you will camp under the open skies at Bhandardara and not see at least two shooting stars if not more.
Boat Ride at Arthur Lake:
We can take a boat ride to feel the cool wind and breathtaking panoramic view of the rolling hills. The boat ride is enjoyable and offers spectacular view of the surrounding hills. The view enhances in the evenings with sunset No motorized boating is allowed at Bhandardara (Arthur Lake)
This is beautiful stone carved Shiva Temple made during Shilahaar Family ruling in Maharashtra 900 AD. This is one of 12 Shiva Temples built by King Jhanj. We can see lots of fine carved work on most of stone blocks used in this temple. This temple is on bank of holy river Pravara. This temple is approached by road from Igatpuri and Sangamner cities via Bhandardara Dam town in District Ahmednagar. The area in which this temple is Pravara Basin and is rich in dense forests, wildlife, pollution less clean weather so it is called Kashmir of Maharashtra, The Akole Taluka of Ahmednagar District.
Randha Falls is situated in the Igatpuri region, near the Lake Arthur Hill. Located at a distance of 11 km from the famous Wilson Dam, this waterfall generally falls from a height of 45 m. It is the chief source of hydro power in the Bhandardara region. Randha Waterfalls is considered to be the third largest waterfall in the country, which gets water from the Pravara River.
