Dear Friends we invite you all for One day Monsoon trek to Gorakhgad with MumbaiRangers on 10 July 2016

 

 

 

Fort Gorakhgad is quite small in size. It had strategic importance during the reign of Shahaji Raje. However, no major battle is recorded to have 

takenplace here. It was used in Shivaji’s era to patrol the nearby region and was used as a stopover station during the journey to Junnar via Naneghat.

Though small in size,there is enough availability water and a lot of space for accommodation. The fort gets its name from Saint Gorakhnath,

who performed his “Sadhana” in this place.Gorakhgad attracts trekkers due to its inviting pinnacle This region of Gorakhgad and Machhindragad 

has a dense forest cover. Gorakhgad is a small fortat Dehri village near Murbad. Named after Saint Goraknath,the fort is at a height of 2150 ft 

above sea level.

If you miss the train you miss the trek so make sure you are on time to catch the train. People may board the same Karjat train from the station of their 

convenience and meet us in the train directly. (Get into Second last boggie from CST side)

Reach Base Village by 10:30am

Breakfast Introduction Round Start Trek by 11:00am

Reach Top by 02:00pm

Lunch (self carried)Explore the Fort

Reach back to Base Village by 05:30pm

Evening Tea

Start our Return Journey by 06:00pm

Reach Thane by 08:30pm

Reach Dadar by 09.00pm

“When you go to the mountain leave only your footprints and bring back only memories”The leader’s decision will be final and binding on all members.

No Arguments will be entertained.Hiking / Trekking / Rock climbing is an adventurous activity and accidents can happen in spite of taking utmost caution 

and care.The club will not be responsible for injury / accident / death to the participant while on trek.
