Dear Friends we invite you all for MumbaiRangers Night Bike Ride To Pondicherry rameshwaram kodaikanal on 20 May to 26 May 2016
Puducherry (formerly called Pondicherry and generally referred to as ‘Pondy’) was under French rule until 1954 and some people here still speak French
(and English with French accents). Hotels, restaurants and ‘lifestyle’ shops sell a seductive vision of the French-subcontinental aesthetic,
enhanced by Gallic creative types whose presence has in turn attracted Indian artists and designers.
The history of the City of Pondicherry is recorded only after the arrival of Dutch, Portuguese, British and French colonialists.
Pondy may well seem a sea of tranquility. The older part of this former French colony (where you'll probably spend most of your time) is full of quiet,
clean, shady cobbled streets, lined with bougainvillea-draped colonial-era townhouses numbered in an almost logical manner.
The newer side of town is typically, hectically South Indian.
It is located on Pamban Island separated from mainland India by the Pamban channel and is about 50 kilometres from Mannar Island, Sri Lanka.
It is situated in the Gulf of Mannar, at the very tip of the Indian peninsula.
According to Hindu mythology, this is the place from where the Hindu god Rama built a bridge, across the sea to Lanka to rescue his wife Sita from her
abductor Ravana. The Ramanathaswamy Temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva is located at the centre of the town and is closely associated with Rama.
The temple along with the town is considered a holy pilgrimage site for both shaivas and vaishnavas
The Pamban Bridge is a railway bridge on the Palk Strait which connects the town of Rameswaram on Pamban Island to mainland India.
The bridge refers to both the road bridge and the cantilever railway bridge
Kodaikanal is a city in the hills of the Dindigul district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. Its name in the Tamil language means
"The Gift of the Forest". Kodaikanal is referred to as the "Princess of Hill stations" and has a long history as a retreat and popular
The cool and misty weather, the scenic beauty of the rolling hills and the wooded forest of Kodaikanal and its surroundings will mesmerize any visitor
throughout the year. Walk through the wooded forests, row in the lake, bath in one of the splashing waterfalls, go for horse riding and cycling around
the lake or simply admire the views.
Kodaikanal is the only Hill Station in India developed by the Americans.
