Mask Adventures: BHUTAN Roadtrip 9th-18th June’17

Join us to explore the secrets of Bhutan, the first country to adopt happiness as an official goal of public policy. 

We start our road trip to the most awaited, cultural paradise, Bhutan, from Bagdogra/ NJP and cover major attractions during the course of our journey.

Short Itinerary:
Day 1 : Pick up from bagdogra or NJP and transfer to Phuentsholing 
(Distance: 170 kms./Driving Time: 5 hrs. / Altitude of Phuentsholing: 293 mts.)
Day 2: Phuentsholing to Timpu
(Distance: 176 kms. / Driving Time: 6 hrs. / Altitude of Thimphu: 2350 mts.)
Day 3: Sightseeing and exploring Timphu
Day 4: Timphu to Punakha
(Distance: 77 kms. / Driving Time: 3 hrs. / Altitude of Punakha: 1310 mts.)
Day 5: Sightseeing and exploring Punakha
(Distance: 78 kms. One way / Driving Time: 3 hrs.)
Day 6: Punakha to Paro
(Distance: 140 kms. / Driving Time: 5 hrs. / Altitude of Paro: 2280 mts.)
Day 7: Sightseeing and Exploring Paro
Day 8: Chele- La- pass (Bhutan’s Highest motorable Road)
(Distance: 35 kms. One way / Driving Time: 2 hrs. / Altitude of Chele-La-Pass: 3810 mts.)
Day 9: Paro to Phuentsholing
(Distance: 200 kms. / Driving Time: 7 hrs. / Altitude of Phuentsholing: 293 mts.)
Day 10: Drop to Bagdogra or NJP
(Distance: 170 kms. / Driving Time: 5 hrs. / Altitude of NJP/IXB: 89 mts.)

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 01 (9th June 2017): NJP Rly Station / IXB (Bagdogra) Airport – Phuentsholing

(Distance: 170 kms. / Driving Time: 5 hrs. / Altitude of Phuentsholing: 293 mts.)

Meet & Greet on arrival at NJP Railway Station / IXB Airport and transfer to Phuentsholing - The

Gateway of Bhutan by Road from India. On arrival, check in at the hotel. Overnight stay at Phuentsholing.

Day 02 (10th June 2017): Phuentsholing – Thimphu (Distance: 176 kms. / Driving Time: 6 hrs. / Altitude of Thimphu: 2350 mts.)

After breakfast complete the immigration formalities and transfer to Thimphu (7,710 ft.) the capital

city of Bhutan. On arrival check in at the hotel. In the evening, visit the Tashichho Dzong (Fortress

of the Glorious Religion). Overnight stay at Thimphu.

Day 03 (11th June 2017): Thimphu Sightseeing

After breakfast visit Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Statue) a place with a huge statue of Buddha on

the top of the Kuensel Phodrang, National Memorial Chorten (Monument) & Folk Heritage

Museum. Afternoon visit to Sangaygang View Point, Changangkha Monastery, Taking

Preserve Centre, the national animal of Bhutan can be seen here. Overnight stay at Thimphu.

Day 04 (12th June 2017): Thimphu – Punakha/Wangdue Sightseeing (Distance: 77 kms.

/ Driving Time: 3 hrs. / Altitude of Punakha: 1310 mts.)

After breakfast drive to Punakha / Wangdue. On the way stop at Dochu-La-Pass (3150 mts.) to

view the higher Himalayas. Arrival at Punakha check in at hotel. After noon visit to Punakha Dzong

- built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. For many years until the time of the second king,

it served as the seat of the Government. The Dzong was named Druk Pungthang Dechen Phodrang

(Palace of Great Happiness). Punakha is still the winter residence of Je-Khenpo and King Jigme Dorji

Wangchuck convened the first National Assembly here in 1952. After that take a short excursion trip

to visit the Chhimi Lhakhang - The Temple, also known as “The Temple of Fertility” was built by

Lama Drukpa Kuenley, “The Devine Mad Man”. Evening free for leisure. Overnight stay will be at

Punakha / Wangdue.

Day 05 (13th June 2017): Excursion to Gangtey (Phobjikha) (Distance: 78 kms. One way / Driving Time: 3 hrs.)

After breakfast, start for full day excursion trip to Gangtey (9,840 ft.). Gangtey is the home of Black

Necked Crane which migrates from the arid plains of Tibet in the north. It is a beautiful valley of

Bhutan. You can also visit Gangtey Gompha. Evening return back. Overnight stay at Punakha / Wangdue.

Day 06 (14th June 2017): Punakha/Wangdue – Paro Sightseeing (Distance: 140 kms. / Driving Time: 5 hrs. / Altitude of Paro: 2280 mts.)

After breakfast drive to Paro (7,483 ft.). On the way stop at Lamperi to visit Royal Botanical Park -

The park contains a rich biodiversity of flora and fauna and features a huge species of plants. On

arrival check in at the hotel. Afternoon visit Ta Dzong - National Museum with an excellent collection

of arts, relics, religious thangkha etc. Rinpung Dzong - Meaning "fortress of the heap of jewels".

The dzong now serves as the administrative and judicial seat of Paro. Evening free for leisure.

Overnight stay at Paro.

 

Day 07 (15th June 2017): Paro Sightseeing

After breakfast visit Drukgyel Dzong. Also visit famous Taktsang Monastery - called “Tiger's

Nest” (2hrs hike from the base camp) & Kyichu Monastery. Overnight stay will be at Paro.

Day 08 (16th June 2017): Excursion to Chele-La-Pass (Distance: 35 kms. One way / Driving Time: 2

hrs. / Altitude of Chele-La-Pass: 3810 mts.)

After breakfast excursion trip to Chele-La-Pass (13,088 ft.) – the highest motorable road in

Bhutan. Enjoy the scenic beauty & memorable landscapes from Chele-La-Pass. Back to Paro. Res

of the day is free for leisure. Overnight stay at Paro.

Day 09 (17th June 2017): Paro – Phuentsholing (Distance: 200 kms. / Driving Time: 7 hrs. / Altitude

of Phuentsholing: 293 mts.)

After breakfast check out from hotel and transfer to Phuentsholing. On arrival check in at the

hotel. Overnight stay at Phuentsholing.

Day 10 (18th June 2017): Phuentsholing – NJP Rly Station / IXB Airport (Distance: 170 kms. /

Driving Time: 5 hrs. / Altitude of NJP/IXB: 89 mts.)

After breakfast check out from the hotel and take the departure transfer to NJP Railway Station /

IXB Airport for your onward journey.
