Kalavantin Durg Trek Details

Type: Hill Fort.

This fort is just opposite to Prabalgad. It is also visible from Mumbai-Pune highway. According to stories, the fort was built for a queen named Kalavanti. Steps leading up to the fort have been cut into the rock face of the hill. From the peak of this fort you can see a 360o panoramic view of Matheran, Chanderi, Peb, Ershal, and Karnala forts, and also the Mumbai city. The Adivasi People of Machi-Prabal village observe the custom of dancing on every Holi (Shimga) Festival at the top of Kalavantin fort. These people have a long-standing relationship with this fort and it has become a part of their heritage.

Catch the local and get down at panvel

07.00 Hrs: Reach Panvel by Local Train

07.30 Hrs: Breakfast at Panvel

08.00 Hrs: Move to Thakurwadi by auto/jeep

09.00 Hrs: Ascend

11.30 Hrs: @ Top

11.30-13.30: Hrs Explore, Rest and Lunch

13:30 Hrs: Descend

15:30 Hrs: Thakurwadi

17:00 Hrs: @ Panvel

The charges for the trek are approx. Rs. 500/- per head, which includes traveling from Panvel to Panvel stations, breakfast & refreshment.

Here is a list of all the things that we need to carry for the trek:

1. A haversack to put in all the things to be carried. So that one has hands free while trekking.

2. A bottle of water (2 Ltrs).

3. Camera (Optional), Avoid wearing Gold and other jewelry

4. Electoral powder, 2 Lemon, some snacks & biscuits (optional).

5. Torch with extra batteries.

6. Personal medicines & 2 plastic bags for weight distribution, mosquito’s cream.

7. A good trekking shoes.

8. Windcheater etc

Rains showers are expected, so pack your bags accordingly.
