Tung

also known as “Kathingad” is located in the Lonavala region and offers a commanding view of the Pavna Dam. The fort was built with the intention of keeping a watch over the Bhor Ghats and the Pavna region. This was one of the forts handed over to the Mughals according to the Treaty of Purandar.

Not much is known about the origin of this fort. In 1657, Shivaji Maharaj took hold of this fort alongwith other forts in the vicinity viz; Tung, Tikona, Lohgad, Visapur. In 1818, the Marathas fought gallantly against the British Army for three days but the fort had to be surrendered.

After taking hold of the fort British found the ornaments of the Goddess Korai which they reportedly gifted away to the Mumbadevi temple in Mumbai.

Sarasgad

Sagargad, also known as Khed Durg lies in the Alibaug Region. The Sagargad fort can be accessed from Alibaug. This fort can be seen from the Alibaug-Pen road and is identified by the Vanartok Pinnacle which stands adjacent to the fort. History wise, not much is known about this fort, except that this fort was one of those given by Shivaji Maharaj to the Mughals in the Treaty of Purandar.

Koraigad

A thick forestation at the base, enough potable water from the lake on the top and from the cistern situated half way and easy climb attracts many enthusiasts to this fort. Amby valleydeveloped at the base of Koregad by the SHAHARA group is the new attraction of many. Wonderful view of the small bungalows of Amby Valley, Tung fort is a pleasent sight to watch from the top.

Two nice lakes on the arid, flat top really takes one by surprise.Ganesh temple and a cave is situated half way and a temple ofKoraidevi is situated on the top.

The interesting part of the fort is that its wall is completely intact and one can walk along its entire perimeter(about 2 km). Its massive gate is also intact. Several ruins of older structures within the fort still exist. It has six cannons – the largest of which called the Laxmi Toph is located near the Korai devi temple.

Tailbaila

Telbaila, situated around 94 km from Pune is a ‘Magmatic Dyke’ which is a very steep vertical wall of rocks created by intruding magma in
to a fissure. The wall is divided into two dykes at the middle where a small Shivalaya exists. Telbaila was a fort with steps which the
British destroyed with mines & guns just to prevent any mutiny in future against the British Rule. Today Telbaila stands as one of the
most prominent places in the Sahyadris famous for its four rock-climbing routes. Ascent to the top requires high technical mountaineering skills. It’s a climber’s paradise. However the tourists can go up to the temple and enjoy the scenic beauty of Sudhagad in Konkan visible right beyond the deep valley.

Savashini ghat

The true essence of the monsoon season can only be experienced, It cannot be described in words. With this thought in mind we are taking you to one of the less-explored ghat of Sahyadri. Coming down from Savashini ghat to Navghar cherishhing the beautiful view of Tailbaila, Sudhagad and Navghar dam will be memorable experience for sure!.

Sudhagad

Located in the vicinity of Pali and endowed with about 50 acres plateau atop, Sudhagad offers a wonderful and an easy trek.
Situated at the height of about 680 meters(2030 ft), Sudhagad is well fortified by steep cliffs. Due to its qualities Sudhagad was actually proposed by Naro Mukund to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to make it the capital of Hindavi Swaraj. Shivaji Maharaj visited Sudhagad to survey it, but he chose Raigad because of its central location.
Places to see:

Takamak Tok which lies nearby, was used to punish the convicted people by pushing him into the valley, but in present times it offers us a mesmerizing panoramic views.
