Dear Friends we invite you all for Trek to Harischandragad and camping at konkankada on 17th & 18th Jan 2015.

Ascend via Pachnai and Descend via Tolar Khind.

Harischandragad is one of the most visited forts in Western Ghats. If you are trekking in Sahyadri for several years and you haven't visited Harishchandragad then you haven't trekked enough. This enormous fort has 7 routes and during this trek we will be doing most simple route ie Pachnai Route. Its the easiest way to explore Harishchandragad without facing much exhaustion. Pachnai route might be the simplest route but its very scenic. Since it does not take out your breath, you are more appreciative to your surroundings.

Descend is via Tolar Khind

Harishchandragad: The fort is quite ancient, considered to be from the Medieval period. The Great sage Changdev (one who created the epic Tatvasaar), used to meditate on Taramati/Rohidas in 14th century. The caves are also from the same period. Harishchandragad was captured by the Marathas in 1747 from the Moguls.

Taramati: This is the topmost point on the fort. It is the second highest peak in Maharashtra after kalsubai. Leopards are seen in the forests beyond this peak. From here we can have a glimpse of the whole range of Naneghat and the forts near Murbad.

Konkan Kada: The most interesting point on this fort is this cliff, which has always fascinated many people from many years. The cliff faces west and looks down upon the Konkan with a breathtaking view of the surrounding region and sunset. This cliff is not just vertical; it is an overhang, almost like a cobra’s hood.

Kedareshwar: The cave of Kedareshwar has a big Shivlinga, which is totally surrounded by water.

Meeting at Kasara station

Day 1 - Saturday
Early Morning catch Kasara local & board second last compartment from CST side.
Reach Kasara station at 7:45 am
From Kasara station reach Pachnai by private vehicle 2 hrs.
Morning refreshment at base village
Start trek by 10:00 am
Reach top by 12:00 pm
Post Lunch Explore the fort.
Camping Dinner and stay in tents near Konkankada.

Day 2: Sunday.
Wake up around 6.00 in the morning
Breakfast 7.00
Explore the remaining fort.
Start Descend around 9.00
Descend is via Tolar Khind
Have lunch at Base village, Start Return Journey.
Reach mumbai around 6.00.

The cost for the trek will be INR 1400 per head. It includes, Transport from Kasara to Kasara by private vechile Morning Tea & Breakfast for Sat and Sun, Lunch for Sat and Sun, Dinner Sat, and Mumbai Rangers Administration Charges if any.

Things to carry:
Water, Torch compulsory ,Sleeping Bag or Bedding, Extra Clothes
A plate ,mug, and spoon,
Windcheaters, Camera, Cap, etc. (Optional)
Some ready to eat food. Plum cakes, Biscuits etc.
Medicine those if u require usually.
Good trekking shoes, extra pair of socks
A haversack to put in all the things to be carried. so that one has ones hands free while trekking.
Please avoid wearing Gold and other ornaments.

Smoking, Alcohol, Drugs, Narcotics and any kind of intoxication, firearms and gambling strictly prohibited.
Please do not litter, we believe in the saying, "When you go to the mountain leave only your footprints and bring back only memories"
The leader's decision will be final and binding on all members. No Arguments will be entertained.
Hiking / Trekking / Rock climbing is an adventurous activity and accidents can happen in spite of taking utmost caution and care.
The club will not be responsible for injury / accident / death to the participant while on trek.
