Birwadi fort (बिरवाडीचा किल्ला) Fort Height : 1200 fts
Birwadi fort small hike but beautiful remaintnats and stilll in good condition of door at western side.
Historically no major information availible.
In 1648, this fort was built by Shivaji Maharaj, along with Lingana fort, after capturing Kalyan. This fort was used to keep watch on the Revdanda creek and to check the activities of Siddhi.
At start we can see good temple of Bhavani mata and a big statue of Maharaj.
There are four corner bastions and the main gate in good condition. There are many stone cut water cisterns on the fort. Two cannons are now moved to the temple at the base of the fort. The view from the summit is pleasing with rice-fields and dense pockets of the jungle around.
Korlai Fort : 272fts
Korlai Fort (also called Morro or Castle Curlew is a Portuguese fortification on small hill of Korlai village.
It was built on an island (Morro de Chaul) which guards the way to the Revdanda Creek. It was meant as a companion to the fort at Chaul. At this strategic position the Portuguese could use it to defend their province which stretched from Korlai to Bassein.
Korlai Light House and Radar :- Korlai Light house is adjacent to the Korlai fort , which was built in 1955, by the indian navy.
Revdanda Land Fort :
Revdanda fort was a beach facing fort built in 1558 by a Portuguese captain Soj to watch over their trading interests.
The Portuguese stoically defended this fort against many invasions namely in 1570-71 and in 1594. It was captured by the marathas (by the Angres, during the time of Nanasaheb Peshwe) in 1740 (Note.an earlier attempt in 1683, during the time of Ch.Sambhajiraje had failed).
In 1806 it was ceded to the East India company and remained in brief control of the Angres in 1817.
Nagaon Beach :
Nagaon is a beach town on the shores of the Arabian Sea, in the North Konkan region of Maharashtra,
Nagaon beach is popular mainly because of its cleanliness, water sport activities.
Fees : 1200 rs.
