After the success of Kohoj fort, Sahyadri Bhraman Trekkers is organizing
another trek to Korigad fort on 29th July 2012. Details are as under.
Trek to Korigad
Little info about the fort:
Type: Hill Fort
Height: 3000 Feet above MSL (Approx)
Grade: Easy
Base Village: Peth Shahapur
Korigad is a large fort which offers an unhindered view of the Sahara "Amby
Valley". The fort was built to keep a watch on the Savashni ghat which leads
from Lonavala to Pali.
The itinerary for the Trek is as given below:
Meeting Place:
1. Dadar, platform no. 4 at 5.30am. Please take Lonavala ticket. (plea
2. Kalyan, platform no. 4 at 6.15am. Please take Lonavala tickey
1) Board Indrayani Express from CST on Sunday (29th July) Morning at 5.40 am
and alight at Lonavala by 8am.
Time table of Indrayani Express:
Mumbai CST : 5.40am
Dadar : 5.51am
Thane : 6.14am
Kalyan : 6.35am
Karjat : 7.15am
Lonavala : 8.00am
8.30am - Breakfast & Tea
9am - Catch ST for Peth Shahapur
10:15am - Peth Shahpur
10:30am - Introduction and start ascending fort
11:30am - on top of the fort
Fort exploration, Rest & Lunch - 2.5 hrs
2pm - start descending fort
3pm - Reach Peth Shahapur. Start return journey to Lonavala by bus / jeep
4.30pm - Lonavala. Evening Tea and Breakfast
5.15pm - Depart 2 Mumbai by express train (preferred train - Koyana Express)
The Estimated expenditure For Korigad Trek is abt Rs. 200/- per head (this
includes Lonavala to Lonavala transportation, Morning and evening breakfast
Tea & Evening Tea)
Things to Carry:
1. LUNCH for the day
2. A bottle of water (Atleast 2 Ltrs), (A Must)
3. Some ready to eat food. Plum cakes, Biscuits, etc.
4. Medicine those if u require usually (Optional)
5. Good trekking shoes,
6. A haversack to put in all the things to be carried.
7. Raincheaters and Umbrella (optional)
8. Camera
